Azienda Agricola Trequanda covers 1,200 hectares around the village of the same name in one of the most atmospheric landscapes of the Siena hills where the work of man, over the centuries, has tamed the landscape with a rare mastery and has been able to protect it from the neglect that has been seen in other areas of comparable beauty. Together with 3 other wineries, Trequanda has been part of the pension fund portfolio for Cariplo staff since 1943 as part of a policy of investment diversification and has always been a source of pride and affection for the employees and retirees of the Intesa Sanpaolo banking group. Trequanda’s wines are acclaimed for their high quality and authenticity, obtained using viticultural and winemaking practices that respect natural equilibrium. The vineyards, which cover over 55 hectares, are planted at an elevation between 400m and 500m and most are included in the DOCG Chianti and DOC Orcia appellations.
“The constant striving to improve the quality and authenticity of the company’s wines influenced our decision to adhere to the WRT project on producing high quality wines suitable for consumers with intolerances (some without added sulphates) right from the beginning. Moreover, the membership of some of the most prestigious Italian wine producers to the project demonstrated how innovative the project was as it is rare that such different companies unite to create a flagship centre of research in the wine industry.”
